While visiting the West Side of the city of Detroit a few years ago, I was struck by the desolation of the area. Very little has been done to revive this area and the lives of the people who live there.
On my drive-thru, I came across people and images which affected my inner feelings, and I decided to paint those images in order to convey the plight of those I saw.
